Clarke Head Arch Ocean Floor Tour

Overview

Take a guided coastal hiking tour at low tide within the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark to the Clarke Head Arch which dwarfs anyone approaching this natural wonder. Admire breathtaking Bay of Fundy coastline and explore extraordinary prehistoric rock formations, formed more than 200 million years ago when Morocco and Nova Scotia were connected.

Hiking to Clarke Head you’ll see diverse geological history and stunning scenery. Observe mudstone and sandstone overlain by North Mountain Basalt, the Cretaceous fault that showcases steeply tilted Carboniferous rocks appearing thrust over Triassic rocks, and learn to identify marble, limestone, shale, sandstone, conglomerate, and igneous rocks. The compilation of this distinctive coastline offers a colourful array of landscapes and is perfect for contemplative photographers.
