Hike Cape Chignecto with NovaShores Adventures

On this two hour guided hiking tour be starstruck by the landscape at Cape Chignecto Provincial Park along Nova Scotia’s Bay of Fundy coastline and within the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark. As you make your way through this wilderness landscape, the combination of viewpoints from the top of sea cliffs, to wild beautiful beaches, and a shoreline carved by the highest tides in the world will leave you in awe.

Tour highlights:

  • A knowledgeable guide through the trail system to favourite viewpoints
  • Excellent viewpoints of Advocate Harbour, a natural harbour wedged between two impressive capes (Cape Chignecto and Cape d’Or)
  • Overlook McGahey Brook, one of the many brooks cutting deep ravines into the Chignecto headlands
  • Walkthrough old-growth forests and along the edge of this side of the Bay of Fundy
  • Hear stories about geological formations including where the continent of Pangea was ripped apart forming the continent of Africa and North America
  • During the tour enjoy a local treat! Warm local hot chocolate will be shared on the tour during the winter
  • In the winter months, snowshoes are available with advance notice

This hike is 5 km total with some incline and decline as well as long sets of stairs at the end. When the tide allows, half of the hiking distance can be walked on the beach, making the tour a loop. Ask us about scheduling a tour at low tide if this is something that interests you.

If walking on the beach, we will see (and can touch) the Cobequid fault, where the continent of Pangea pulled apart.
