Art Lab Studios & Gallery

Overview

Art Lab Studios and Gallery is an artist-run cooperative studio space featuring the work of 5 local artists: Michael Fuller, Jill Langford, Krista Levy Odlin, Krista Wells and Janet Doble.

Art Lab provides working studios for this group of artists in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. It fosters a vibrant and welcoming venue for anyone interested in taking classes in art and craft through workshops, demonstrations, weekly classes and general interaction with working artists.
Check Art Lab’s website for more information on workshops and classes. Art Lab’s gallery space has new exhibitions throughout the summer featuring work of regional and guest artists. The public is warmly invited to openings, where they can meet the artist and learn more about the creative process.

Each member of Art Lab brings their own individual esthetic and talents to create an exciting mix of work. A vibrant place not to be missed!

Michael Fuller has been painting for years, but only recently scaled down from theatre set painting to canvas. Still exploring styles and subject matter, he paints everything from dramatic skies to sensitive portraits.

Krista Wells (www.kristawells.ca) describes herself as a storyteller, whether she’s illustrating and painting or creating jewellery, mosaics, and sculpture. She’s passionate about animals and this shows in her whimsical and often smile-inducing work.

Jill Langford’s beautiful and lyrical work is inspired by the sea. She layers strong, transparent colours of ink to explore pattern and texture, myth and magic. (www.dancingbeggarsstudio.com)

Krista Levy Odlin, a trained costume designer, makes magic with fabric, beads, buttons, and anything else that sparks her imagination. Art for the wall, jewellery, home decor… anything is possible.

Janet Doble (www.janetdoblepottery.net), a potter/ceramic artist, is the newest member of the coop. She is adapting her work to incorporate the use of local clay, which she digs from the Bay of Fundy shore; this along with the geography of the area are opening up new creative possibilities for her.
