Beaubassin and Fort Lawrence National Historic Sites

Overview

Located in close proximity to the Nova Scotia Visitor Centre (Amherst), these National Historic Sites were designated for their rich archaeological resources, the large 18th-century Acadian village that was once present here, and their pivotal role in the struggle between French and British empires for the control of the Isthmus of Chignecto region. The sites boast walking trails, a large shelter with picnic tables, a great view of the Cumberland Basin, and interpretive panels on the Mi’kmaw, Acadian, French and British presence in the area.

These sites are open year-round, but there is no maintenance in winter so access may be limited.
