Heritage Models Museum

Overview

Located in River Hebert, 25 minutes from the town of Amherst and just minutes from the Joggins Fossil Cliffs UNESCO World Heritage Site, visit the Heritage Models Museum that is dedicated to preserving the history of River Hebert and the surrounding communities through artistically-crafted 1/12 scale models, miniature replicas of historically significant buildings and businesses that depict the education, industry, history, culture & heritage of the area.

The miniature models were meticulously built by local artist, the late Reginald ‘Bud’ Johnston who originally displayed the replicas on his front lawn. Today, the entire collection can be viewed in the Heritage Models Museum as part of our collective effort to preserve and showcase our rich heritage and culture for generations to come.

Models within the museum’s collection include Chignecto Ship Railway, a local church, the old schoolhouse, and the Titanic distress signal. The collection also includes some working models.

Adjacent to the museum, the Days Gone By building houses additional artifacts and pictures.

The Heritage Models Museum is open to the public June 1 to September 1, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, seven days a week.
